Spinal Decompression in Henderson, NV
The people who end up on our decompression table in Henderson usually arrive at the same point. An MRI has confirmed a disc problem. Rest and medication have run their course. Someone has mentioned surgery, and they are not ready for that conversation yet.
Where we are
1010 Wigwam Parkway, Suite 100, Henderson, just off the 215 near Green Valley Ranch. Dr. Scott Yoshizaki leads the office. Call (725) 255-7333.
What actually happens
You lie on a table wearing a harness. A motorized unit applies traction along the axis of the spine, targeted at a specific segment, in cycles of pull and release rather than one constant pull. Sessions are quiet. Most patients read or close their eyes, and it should never be painful.
The cycling matters. Discs lose their own blood supply in early adulthood and are nourished afterward by fluid moving in and out under changing pressure. A segment that has stopped moving loses that exchange entirely. Cyclic traction restores the pressure gradient that feeds the tissue, which is a separate benefit from simply making room.
Who it suits
Herniated or bulging discs with or without leg symptoms. Sciatica traceable to a specific level. Degenerative narrowing where arthritis has crowded the nerve exits. Neck cases with arm symptoms following a nerve root pattern. Post-collision disc injury, which is a large share of what we treat in Henderson.
Who it does not
This part is not fine print. Progressive weakness, loss of bowel or bladder control, or numbness in the saddle region are surgical emergencies and need immediate medical evaluation, not a decompression table. Certain fractures, tumors, advanced osteoporosis, and some prior spinal instrumentation also rule it out.
We screen for all of it before starting. If you fall into one of those groups we will tell you plainly and help you get to the right provider. We would rather lose the case than take it.
Why try it before surgery or injections
Surgeons and pain physicians solve problems every day that nothing else solves, and for a large fragment causing progressive weakness, surgery is the right answer and waiting costs you. What distinguishes decompression is that trying it changes nothing structurally. Nothing is removed, nothing is fused, nothing is injected. If it helps you will generally know within a few weeks, and if it does not, every other option remains fully open. That is not true in the other direction.
The rest of the plan
Decompression makes space. Something has to help hold it, so we pair it with work on hip mobility and trunk stability. Stiff hips force the low back to supply motion it does not have, and that is a large part of why backs that felt better go on to flare again.
