Can Peripheral Neuropathy Be Reversed?
It is the first question almost everyone asks, and the answer is more encouraging than most people have been led to believe.
Peripheral neuropathy is nerve damage, and nerve tissue can respond. Patients who begin care while they still have meaningful nerve function frequently report less burning, better sensation in their feet, steadier balance, and sleep that is no longer interrupted by pain. The single biggest factor in how much improvement is available is how early it is caught.
Which is why we start by measuring, not guessing.
Why so many people are told nothing can be done
Most people with neuropathy have been told it is simply part of aging, or part of having diabetes, and handed a prescription that dulls the symptom without touching the cause.
That advice usually comes from a visit where nobody actually measured anything. Without a measurement there is no way to know how much nerve function remains, and without knowing that, there is no way to know what is possible. So the default answer becomes learn to live with it.
We think you deserve a real number before anyone tells you what your options are.
What we measure
Our neuropathy evaluation scores six separate sensory channels in each foot: cold, pinwheel, ten gram monofilament, vibration, hot, and electrical, along with a balance assessment. Different nerve fibers carry different sensations and they decline at different rates, so testing one thing tells you very little.
Those scores convert into a sensory loss percentage and place you on a severity scale validated against the Toronto Clinical Scoring System, a measure used in published neuropathy research.
We add thermal imaging that maps temperature across both feet, showing circulation patterns a sensory test alone will not reveal. Nerves depend on blood supply, and the image often explains why one foot is further along than the other.
You leave with a written report showing your thermal images, your findings, and exactly where you stand. Every patient receives it, whether or not they choose to begin care with us. It is your record.
What treatment looks like
Neuropathy responds to several things done consistently rather than one thing done once. Our program combines Class IV laser therapy, nerve re-education, chiropractic care where spinal involvement is contributing to nerve compression, vibration plate and yoga therapy for balance and circulation, targeted nutritional support, and home equipment so progress continues between visits.
Programs run over months, because that is the pace nerve tissue works at. What patients tend to notice first is sleep, then balance, then sensation.
The case for testing now
Nerve function does not spontaneously improve. Where you are today is the most you have to work with, and every month of waiting narrows the range of what is achievable.
Getting tested commits you to nothing. It tells you where you stand while you still have room to move.
RejuveN8: Wellness, Injury, and Nerve has served the Las Vegas valley since 2018, with offices in Henderson, southwest Las Vegas, and North Las Vegas. Our neuropathy program is directed by Dr. Jason Bauer, who has practiced chiropractic for over 25 years, the last five focused on peripheral neuropathy.
